Yield 24

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ sugar cookie mix
2 tablespoons Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 egg
1 tube (4.25 oz) Betty Crocker™ black decorating icing
1 container (12 oz) Betty Crocker™ Whipped fluffy white frosting
Coarse white decorating sugar
Assorted candies

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°F. In medium bowl, stir cookie mix, flour, butter and egg until soft dough forms.
  • On lightly floured surface, roll dough to about 1/8-inch thickness. With star-shaped cookie cutter, cut out stars; place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake 7 to 9 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks. Cool completely, about 15 minutes.
  • Frost and decorate 1 cookie at a time. Pipe black icing on tip of star for hat. Frost remaining star with white frosting. Sprinkle with coarse sugar. Attach candies for buttons and face.

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my snowman star cutouts turned out really dry. I think I might have overbaked them.

These snowman star cutouts were a lot of work to make. I'm not sure they were worth the effort.

My snowman star cutouts didn't turn out as pretty as the ones in the picture. But they still tasted good.

These snowman star cutouts were a little too sweet for my taste. I think I would reduce the amount of sugar next time.
