Categories     Cookies

Time 1h30m

Number Of Ingredients 17

2 3/4 c all purpose flour
1 1/2 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1 c nuts, if desired
1 c raisins
3/4 c applesauce
1/2 c butter or margarine, softened
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp good vanilla
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp ground cloves
2 eggs
GLAZE
1/3 c butter(do not use margarine)
2 c powdered sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
2-4 Tbsp hot water

Steps:

  • 1. In a large bowl, mix all cookie ingredients with spoon. (If dough is soft, cover and refrigerate.)
  • 2. Heat the oven to 375'F. On greased cookie sheet, drop dough by rounded teaspoons full about 2" apart.
  • 3. Bake 8-10 minutes or until almost no indentation remains when touched. Immediately remove from the cookie sheet to cooling rack. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
  • 4. In a 1-quart saucepan, melt butter over low heat until golden brown. Remove from heat. Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla. Stir in hot water just until smooth and spreadable. Spread on cookies.

Tips:

  • Use a food processor to quickly and easily combine the ingredients for the dough. This will save you time and effort, and it will also help to ensure that the dough is evenly mixed.
  • Be careful not to overmix the dough. Overmixing can make the dough tough and chewy, so mix it just until it comes together.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before rolling it out. This will help to make the dough easier to work with and will also help to prevent the cookies from spreading too much in the oven.
  • Use a sharp knife to cut the dough into even-sized pieces. This will help to ensure that the cookies bake evenly.
  • Bake the cookies at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes, or until they are golden brown. Be sure to rotate the baking sheet halfway through baking so that the cookies brown evenly.
  • Don't forget to serve the warm apple sauce jumbo cookies with milk for a delicious and satisfying snack!

Conclusion:

Apple Sauce Jumbo Cookies are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are perfect for a quick snack or dessert, and they can also be served at a party or potluck. So next time you are looking for a tasty and festive cookie recipe, bake a batch of Apple Sauce Jumbo Cookies. Your taste buds will be glad you did!
