BLUE CHEESE SPREAD

Blue Cheese Spread image

My own blue cheese spread...you can use it with crackers and/or veggies for a flavorful appetizer. Bake on slices of baguette for a tasy crostini. Place inside burgers before baking or just spread it on the bun. The cranberries are optional but add a slight bit of sweetness and very pretty color.

Categories     Spreads

Time 5m

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 ounces cream cheese, room temp
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
4 ounces crumbled blue cheese, cold
1/4 cup dried cranberries (optional)

Steps:

  • Blend cream cheese, mayo and Worcestershire sauce until soft and smooth.
  • Mix in walnuts and cranberries, if using.
  • Gently fold in blue cheese, breaking the chunks up as little as possible.

Tips:

  • To achieve the best flavor, use high-quality blue cheese and butter. Look for blue cheese that is creamy and has a sharp, pungent flavor. Use unsalted butter to control the saltiness of the spread.
  • If you don't have shallots, you can use a small onion instead. Just chop it very finely.
  • If you want a smoother spread, you can purée it in a food processor or blender. However, be careful not to over-process it, or it will become too runny.
  • Blue cheese baguette spread can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. When you're ready to serve, let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before spreading it on your favorite bread or crackers.
  • For a more elegant presentation, pipe the spread onto crostini or crackers using a pastry bag fitted with a star tip.

Conclusion:

Blue cheese baguette spread is a delicious and versatile appetizer that can be enjoyed in many different ways. It's perfect for parties and gatherings, but it's also great to have on hand for a quick and easy snack. With its creamy texture, sharp flavor, and beautiful blue veins, blue cheese baguette spread is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. So next time you're looking for a new appetizer to try, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
