With a subtle sweetness and a rich taste, it's a stunning rice that has everything going for it. Put it high on your list of rices to try.
  • Rinse the rice. Combine the rice, water, and salt (if using) in a heavy Dutch oven or saucepan. Over high heat, bring to a boil. Skim off any foam floating on the surface. Cover, reduce the heat, and simmer until the rice is tender, 30 to 35 minutes. Quickly drain off any excess water. Return the rice to the hot pot, cover, and let sit for 5 minutes.

  • 18. Increase the amount of meat, vegetables and ingredients if serving more then 2 people.

Tips:

  • Soak the rice: Soaking the black rice before cooking helps to reduce the cooking time and yields more tender grains.
  • Use a heavy-bottomed pot: A heavy-bottomed pot helps to distribute heat evenly, preventing the rice from scorching.
  • Cook the rice over low heat: Cooking the rice over low heat helps to prevent the rice from becoming mushy.
  • Don't stir the rice too much: Stirring the rice too much can break the grains and make the rice gummy.
  • Let the rice rest before serving: Letting the rice rest for a few minutes before serving allows the grains to absorb more moisture and become more tender.

Conclusion:

Black rice is a delicious and nutritious whole grain that can be cooked in a variety of ways. Soaking the rice before cooking, using a heavy-bottomed pot, cooking the rice over low heat, and avoiding stirring the rice too much are all tips that can help you cook perfect black rice. Once cooked, black rice can be used in a variety of dishes, from salads to stir-fries to desserts. With its unique flavor and texture, black rice is a versatile and delicious addition to any meal.
