Time 8m

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

8 ounces brie cheese (1 round of Brie with rind)
3 tablespoons pure maple syrup (approximately)
1 -2 apple, cored and cut into thick slices
4 -8 slices ham, sliced in half and then rolled (like a tube)
1 baguette, sliced (use a good crusty bakery baguette)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Place round of brie into glass or ceramic pie dish. Drizzle with maple syrup. (Note: If you do not care for the rind, you may slice off the top layer of rind before drizzling with maple syrup.).
  • Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until cheese begins to melt.
  • Arrange apple slices and ham around brie and serve with baguette slices.
  • Optional: Warm apple wedges and rolls of ham in baking dish with brie during the last few minutes of baking. (I usually skip this step.).

Time 30m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

3 -4 granny smith apples
butter
cinnamon sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
cinnamon
nutmeg (optional)

Steps:

  • Peel& core apples, cut in eights.
  • (I use my apple corer/slicer and then just peel the slices) Place in a baking dish, and dot with butter.
  • Sprinkle generously with cinnamon-sugar.
  • Bake in microwave on HIGH for about 10 minutes or until fork inserts easily, stirring at least once.
  • Remove from microwave and set aside.

  • Remove from heat, add vanilla and stir well.
  • Pour over apples and sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg if you desire.
  • Serve hot or let cool some.

Tips:

  • Choose the right apples: Use firm, tart apples that hold their shape well when baked, such as Granny Smith, Braeburn, or Honeycrisp.
  • Peel and core the apples: Use a sharp knife to peel and core the apples. Be careful not to cut too deeply into the flesh of the apples.
  • Make the filling: Combine the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a small bowl. Mix well.
  • Stuff the apples: Place one tablespoon of the filling into the center of each apple.
  • Bake the apples: Place the apples in a baking dish and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30-40 minutes, or until the apples are tender.
  • Serve the apples: Serve the apples warm with whipped cream, ice cream, or caramel sauce.
