FRUIT SALAD WITH HONEY-LIME DRESSING

Fruit Salad with Honey-Lime Dressing image

"I literally didn't know how to boil an egg until I was in my 20's - when I tried to impress a guy by making dinner for him," writes Sally Siegel of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. "I didn't have much success with the dinner or the guy, but I regrouped and put together a repertoire of fairly elegant dishes I felt confident making. Over the years, my cooking style has become more casual; I make dishes that are not too demanding, but still special for company."

Yield Makes 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/2 cup plain yogurt
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
1/4 cup honey
1 teaspoon grated lime peel
2 cups diced peeled cantaloupe
2 cups diced peeled honeydew melon
2 cups seedless red or green grapes
2 cups diced peeled cored pineapple
1 1/2 cups diced peeled papaya
1 cup halved hulled strawberries

Steps:

  • Whisk first 4 ingredients in small bowl to blend; set dressing aside. Combine remaining ingredients in large bowl. Cover dressing and fruit separately and chill until ready to serve, up to 6 hours.
  • Mix dressing into fruit. Let stand 15 minutes to blend flavors.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe, flavorful fruits: The quality of your fruit salad will largely depend on the quality of the fruits you use. Choose fruits that are ripe and in season, as they will be the sweetest and most flavorful.
  • Use a variety of fruits: Don't be afraid to mix and match different fruits in your salad. A variety of colors and textures will make your salad more visually appealing and interesting to eat.
  • Cut the fruits into uniform pieces: This will help the salad look more polished and make it easier to eat. If you are using fruits of different sizes, cut them into pieces that are about the same size.
  • Don't overdress the salad: A little bit of dressing goes a long way. Too much dressing will weigh down the salad and make it soggy.
  • Chill the salad before serving: This will help the flavors to meld and make the salad more refreshing.
  • Garnish the salad with fresh herbs or flowers: This will add a pop of color and flavor to your salad.

Conclusion:

Hawaiian Fresh Fruit Salad with Lime-Honey Dressing is a delicious and refreshing salad that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own personal preferences. With its bright colors and tropical flavors, this salad is sure to be a hit at your next party or gathering.
