MRS. MUELLER'S HONEY POPCORN

Mrs. Mueller's Honey Popcorn image

One of my dearest friends shared her mother's recipe with me for this tasty, lightly honey flavored popcorn. It is very easy and makes for a nice snack, especially enjoyed by children. Please only use freshly popped unseasoned popcorn - this really doesn't work well with the preseasoned microwave popcorn. Prep time assumes you have started with already popped popcorn.

Categories     Salad Dressings

Time 5m

Yield 1 cup(approx)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/2 cup Kraft mayonnaise (don't use Dukes or Miracle Whip!)
1/4 cup mustard
1/4 cup honey
1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar (leave out if using for dip)
1 dash salt
cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • Whisk together and chill.

Tips:

  • Use fresh popcorn kernels. Fresh kernels will pop better and have a better flavor than old kernels.
  • Don't overcrowd the popcorn maker. If you overcrowd the popcorn maker, the popcorn will not pop evenly and will be more likely to burn.
  • Use enough oil. If you don't use enough oil, the popcorn will be dry and bland. However, if you use too much oil, the popcorn will be greasy.
  • Season the popcorn to taste. You can use a variety of seasonings to flavor your popcorn, such as salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, or chili powder.
  • Store the popcorn in an airtight container. This will help to keep the popcorn fresh and crispy.
  • Microwave Method: Place popcorn kernels in a microwave-safe bowl. Drizzle with oil and toss to coat. Cover with a lid or plastic wrap and microwave on high for 2-3 minutes, or until popping slows down.
  • Stovetop Method: Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add popcorn kernels and cover. Shake the pot back and forth until the popping slows down.
  • Air Popper Method: Place popcorn kernels in the air popper. Turn on the popper and allow it to run until the popping slows down.

Conclusion:

Honey mustard popcorn is a delicious and easy-to-make snack that is perfect for any occasion. It is a great way to use up leftover popcorn kernels and it can be customized to your own taste preferences. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can enjoy this tasty treat in no time.
