4 C. flour
2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
pinch salt
1 C. Butter
1/2 C Crisco
1 C. half & half cream
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Mix the dry ingredients together. Cut in the butter and Crisco as for pie crust. Mix the last three ingredients and add, making a dough. This needs to be of rolling consistancy, so add a bit of flour or liquid if needed. Roll dough into a rectangle, approximately 5" wide and as long as you want to do it for easy handling. Cut each piece about 2" wide and drape over a krokaner pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes until lightly browned. Frost with 7 minute frosting.

6 egg yolks, hard cooked
6 egg yolks
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups butter
3 cups flour, sifted
1 egg white, slightly beaten
sugar crystals

Steps:

  • Mash hard cooked egg yolks very finely; cream with uncooked egg yolks, salt and sugar.
  • Add butter and flour alternately, a little at a time.
  • Cover and chill until stiff.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Roll dough into strips 1/2" in diameter and about 5" long.
  • Shape into rings, crossing the ends.
  • Dip in egg white, then in sugar.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
