Steps:
- Preheat the oven or toaster oven to 400°F. For roasting, I prefer medium rather than slender spears so they don't dwindle to nothing. Trim about an inch from the bottoms, then peel the bottom halves of the spears. Arrange the spears on a lightly oiled baking pan and drizzle with sesame oil. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Roast until tender and lightly browned, stirring occasionally, 10 to 15 minutes.
Tips:
- Choose thin to medium-thick asparagus spears for even cooking.
- Trim the asparagus by snapping off the woody ends.
- Use a combination of olive oil and sesame oil for a flavorful roast.
- Add garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes for an extra layer of flavor.
- Roast the asparagus at a high temperature for a quick and crispy cook.
- Serve the asparagus immediately with a drizzle of sesame oil and sprinkle of sesame seeds.
Conclusion:
Roasted sesame asparagus is a quick, easy, and delicious side dish that can be enjoyed as part of a healthy meal. With its vibrant green color and slightly charred edges, this dish is sure to impress your family and friends. The combination of sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes adds a savory and slightly spicy flavor that complements the asparagus perfectly.
