Tips:

  • Select the Right Salmon: Choose a wild-caught salmon fillet with a vibrant color and firm texture.
  • Proper Thawing: Thaw frozen salmon fillets in the refrigerator overnight or under cold running water for 30 minutes.
  • Dry the Salmon: Before cooking, pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to ensure a crispy skin.
  • Generous Seasoning: Liberally season the salmon fillets with salt and pepper to enhance their natural flavor.
  • Marinate for Extra Flavor: For added depth of flavor, marinate the salmon in a mixture of soy sauce, rice wine, ginger, and garlic for at least 30 minutes.
  • Choose the Right Pan: Use a non-stick pan or a well-seasoned cast iron skillet for even cooking and to prevent sticking.
  • Perfect Pan-Searing: Heat the pan over medium-high heat and sear the salmon fillets skin-side down for 2-3 minutes until the skin is crispy and golden brown.
  • Gentle Flipping: Use a fish turner to carefully flip the salmon fillets and cook the other side for an additional 2-3 minutes or until cooked through.
  • Monitor Internal Temperature: Insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the salmon fillet to ensure it reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) for medium-rare or 165°F (74°C) for well-done.
  • Rest Before Serving: Allow the cooked salmon fillets to rest for a few minutes before serving to retain their juices and prevent overcooking.
