Tips:

  • To make sure your doughnuts are cooked through, insert a toothpick into the center. If it comes out clean, they're done.
  • If your bananas are not ripe enough, you can ripen them quickly by placing them in a paper bag with an apple. The apple will release ethylene gas, which will help the bananas ripen.
  • If you don't have any crème anglaise, you can substitute half-and-half or even milk.
  • To make your caramel sauce extra smooth, strain it through a fine-mesh sieve before serving.
  • If you're short on time, you can skip the step of making the spiced caramel sauce. Simply serve the doughnuts with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of honey.

Conclusion:

These warm doughnuts à la mode with bananas and spiced caramel sauce are the perfect comfort food. They're easy to make and absolutely delicious. The doughnuts are light and fluffy, the bananas are sweet and caramelized, and the caramel sauce is rich and flavorful. This recipe is sure to become a family favorite.
