Time 2h35m

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 lb fresh strawberries, hulled, cleaned and sliced
1 1/3 c sugar
1 1/3 c water
2 Tbsp butter
3/4 c all purpose flour
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
2 Tbsp sugar
1 egg
1/3 c milk

Steps:

  • 1. Place the strawberries and equal parts sugar and water in a 2-3 quart slow cooker. Cover with lid and cook on high for 2-1/2 hours. Before cooking for 2-1/2 hours add the dumpling mixture to it.
  • 2. After cooking for this long you will see the strawberries are breaking down and the mixture has thickened up.
  • 3. At this point you add the butter and stir to give it a silky, creamy texture.

This recipe is a great way to use up leftover biscuits. I often make a batch of biscuits on the weekend and then use them to make dumplings during the week.
