Categories     Salad     Fruit     Dessert     Freeze/Chill

Yield 8-12 servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/2 cup sugar
2 3-ounces packages cream cheese, room temperature
Few drops of vanilla or almond extract
1 cup cool whip or heavy cream whipped (or a little more)
1 large can fruit cocktail drained
Maraschino cherries to taste.

Steps:

  • Cream sugar, cream cheese and extract together. Fold in whipped cream and fruit cocktail until blended; then spoon into a mold or bowl or ice cube trays. (I use cupcake papers filled to about 1/2 to 2/3 full in a cupcake pan). Place Maraschino cherries on top to decorate, or you can fold them into the salad at the same time you fold in the fruit cocktail. Freeze until ready to serve/eat.

I'm allergic to marshmallows, so I made this salad without them. It was still really good.

I followed the recipe exactly and the salad turned out great. I think it would be even better with some fresh mint or basil.

This salad is a bit too sweet for my taste. I think I'll try it again with less sugar next time.

I'm not a big fan of fruit salad, but this one is really good. The fruit is fresh and flavorful, and the marshmallows and whipped topping add a nice touch of sweetness.

I was skeptical at first, but this salad is surprisingly refreshing and delicious. The sweetness of the fruit and marshmallows is perfectly balanced by the tanginess of the pineapple.
