CHOCOLATE BROWN SUGAR BROWNIES

Chocolate Brown Sugar Brownies image

This is the only brownie recipe that I make. I found these on a bag of brown sugar and they are amazing. They are chocolatey goodness at it's best. The brown sugar adds a very special taste and makes the brownies so much better than using plain white sugar. They bake up so moist and they are easy peasy to put together in a pinch...

These are really yummy, especially if you eat them slightly warm. Chocolate chips are a nice add in, but I like them plain just as well. I have been making these for close to 30 years.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 lb butter or margarine, softened
1 c brown sugar
3 c flour
1 Tbsp vanilla extract
1 1/4 c finely chopped pecans
1/4 tsp salt
a little granulated sugar

Steps:

  • 1. 1.Preheat oven to 400°F 2.Cream butter and brown sugar. 3.Add flour, salt, and vanilla, mix thoroughly. 4.Spread evenly in a 9½"x15? glass or aluminum pan. 5.Sprinkle with chopped pecans and granulated sugar. Use a glass to roll over the nuts and sugar so they're pressed into the dough. 6.Bake at 400°F until slightly risen and lightly brown around edges (around 15-19 minutes). 7.Let cool (dough will not stay risen). When cool, cut into squares and remove from pan with a thin spatula.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients for the best results. Look for cocoa powder with a high percentage of cacao solids (at least 70%) and use real butter instead of margarine.
  • Be careful not to overmix the batter. Overmixing can make the brownies tough and chewy.
  • If you want fudgy brownies, bake them for a shorter amount of time. If you want cakier brownies, bake them for a longer amount of time.
  • Let the brownies cool completely before cutting them. This will help them to set and prevent them from crumbling.
  • Brownies can be stored at room temperature for up to 3 days. They can also be frozen for up to 2 months.
