CINNAMON APPLE DELIGHT

Substitute what you like for a sweetener...I've used stevia, aspartame, and agave nectar, all with success. Greek yogurt takes some getting used to -- it's not for everyone!

BAKED APPLE DELIGHT

Baked Apple Delight image

From the website SuperFoodsRX. This delicious, healthy dessert not only tastes incredible - the entire ingredients list are all "superfoods"! This recipe is rich in so many nutrients that it would be too long to name them all here ;) but they include fiber, ascorbic acid, vitamin E, magnesium, potassium, calcium, folate, polyphenols, salicylates and oligosaccharides (detoxifying and cholesterol-lowering). The original recipe says that this dish can be served warm or cold, but it's SOO much better warm IMO. Great for those cold winter nights. Serve with a nice mug of warmed vanilla soy milk topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Time 35m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

4 medium apples, washed and cored
4 teaspoons honey (local variety if available. good for you!)
4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Wash and core the apples.
  • Place apples in an oven-safe dish.
  • Drizzle the honey, sprinkle walnuts and dust the cinnamon over the apples.
  • Bake in oven for about 30 minutes.
  • Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of apples. This will give your dish a more complex flavor and texture. Some good choices include Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Braeburn apples.
  • Peel and core your apples before slicing them. This will help them cook more evenly and prevent them from becoming mushy.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan when cooking your apples. This will prevent them from cooking evenly and will make them more likely to stick to the pan.
  • Cook your apples until they are tender but still hold their shape. You don't want them to become mushy.
  • Add the cinnamon and sugar to the apples while they are still cooking. This will help the flavors to meld together.
  • Serve your cinnamon apples warm. They can be served on their own, or you can use them as a topping for pancakes, waffles, or oatmeal.

Conclusion:

Cinnamon apples are a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They are also a great way to use up leftover apples. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a dish that is both flavorful and satisfying. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy recipe, give cinnamon apples a try.
