2 cups white sugar
½ cup cocoa
1 cup milk
4 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Grease an 8x8 inch square baking pan. Set aside.
  • Combine sugar, cocoa and milk in a medium saucepan. Stir to blend, then bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer. Do not stir again.

It should flatten when pressed between your fingers.
  • Remove from heat. Add butter or margarine and vanilla extract. Beat with a wooden spoon until the fudge loses its sheen. Do not under beat.
  • Pour into prepared pan and let cool. Cut into about 60 squares.

REAL FUDGE

Old fashioned fudge like your grandma used to make -- no condensed milk, no marshmallow creme, just the basics. Follow the directions precisely and you'll have a delicious, non-grainy fudge. Stirring at the wrong time causes graininess, so follow directions.

Time 30m

Yield 24 ounces, 24 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate
3/4 cup whole milk
2 cups sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons dark corn syrup
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • In a heavy saucepan over medium heat, melt chocolate with milk stirring constantly until chocolate is completely melted.
  • Add sugar, salt and corn syrup to saucepan and stir just until mixture comes to a boil.
  • STOP STIRRING when mixture boils.
  • Clamp candy thermometer on side of saucepan and let mixture boil to temperature of 238 F.
  • Remove from heat immediately.
  • DO NOT STIR!
  • Add butter, without stirring, to chocolate mixture.
  • Let cool to at least 110 F, then add vanilla.
  • Now it's time to stir.
  • Beat mixture by hand or with hand held mixer until fudge loses it's glossiness and thickens slightly.
  • Pour fudge onto a waxed paper lined 9 inch pan and let set for a few hours.

Tips:

  • For a creamier fudge, use heavy cream instead of milk.
  • Add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavor of the fudge.
  • If you want a fudgier texture, cook the mixture for a longer period of time.
  • To make the fudge even more decadent, add some chopped nuts, dried fruit, or chocolate chips.
  • If you don't have a candy thermometer, you can test the doneness of the fudge by dropping a small amount into a bowl of cold water. If the fudge forms a firm ball, it is ready.
  • Store the fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Conclusion:

Fake fudge is a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for any occasion. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a fudge that is rich, creamy, and chocolatey. So next time you are craving something sweet, give fake fudge a try. You won't be disappointed!
