LOWER FAT PEACH PIE

Lower Fat Peach Pie image

When looking for peach pie recipes, all were very very high in fat. This is not low fat, but lower fat then others I found. And it was very tasty too! Modified from something I found in my Joy of Cooking. I used a store bought cinnamon pie crust that I happened to have. I think trying a whole wheat pie crust with this could be very good. The amount of peaches given is simply an estimate. Fill your pie crust with peach slices. You could certainly choose to use all sugar instead of the 1/2 splenda.

  • Peel the peaches: Peeling the peaches will give your pie a smoother texture.
  • Slice the peaches thinly: This will help them cook evenly.
  • Use a combination of sugars: Using a combination of white sugar and brown sugar will give your pie a more complex flavor.
  • Add a little cornstarch: Cornstarch will help thicken the pie filling and prevent it from being too runny.
  • Use a pre-made pie crust: If you're short on time, you can use a pre-made pie crust from the store.
  • Brush the crust with milk: Brushing the crust with milk will help it brown.
  • Bake the pie until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling: This will ensure that your pie is cooked through.
