OLD FASHIONED APPLESAUCE SPICE CAKE

Old Fashioned Applesauce Spice Cake image

I found this recipe on a Duncan Hines spice cake mix box. It was easy to make. It was not too sweet, but sweet enough! I used chunky applesauce & I did not frost the cake -- I just sprinkled it with cinnamon sugar, but the frosting sounds good too.

APPLESAUCE CRAZY CAKE (NO-BOWL)

Applesauce Crazy Cake (No-Bowl) image

Another no-bowl cake recipe. Found this one on a MasterCook recipe e-list back in 1998. Haven't tried it yet but hope to soon. Update: I have tried this now and used half all-purpose half whole wheat flour and no nuts. It worked very well. Not a high rising cake but it was nice and moist when we had this for breakfast the next morning. Took 25 minutes in a 9 inch pan.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of apples. This will give your cake a more complex flavor. Some good choices include Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Braeburn.
  • Peel and core your apples before cooking them. This will help to prevent the cake from becoming too dense.
  • Cook your apples until they are soft. This will help to release their natural sweetness and flavor.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing can make the cake tough.
  • Bake the cake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. This will ensure that the cake is cooked through.
  • Let the cake cool completely before frosting it. This will help to prevent the frosting from melting.

Conclusion:

Applesauce spice cake is a delicious and comforting dessert that is perfect for any occasion. By following these tips, you can make a perfect applesauce spice cake that everyone will love.
