BANANA-RUM SAUCE

Banana-Rum Sauce image

This is another dessert sauce I've had for awhile. It's wonderful over vanilla ice cream or pound cake. I like it because it's ready in about 10 minutes. You can substitute another liquer or juice for a change of flavour ( I like pineapple). Also try one of the flavoured rums (love that coconut rum).

Provided by Sweet PQ

Categories     Sauces

Time 10m

Yield 2 cups

Number Of Ingredients 5

3 tablespoons unsalted butter (I admit it, I've used regular butter)
1/3 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons rum
2 tablespoons orange liqueur (or orange juice)
3 bananas, ripe & sliced

Steps:

  • Melt butter in a frying pan. Add the sugar & cook, stirring, over medium heat until dissolved. Add rum and liquer (or juice). Then add sliced bananas and stir until they are coated and the mixture is hot.
  • Serve slightly cooled.

Tips:

  • For a richer flavor, use dark rum instead of light rum.
  • Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the sauce for a warm, spicy flavor.
  • If you don't have brown sugar, you can use granulated sugar instead.
  • Be careful not to overcook the bananas, or they will become mushy.
  • Serve the sauce warm over ice cream, pancakes, or waffles.

Conclusion:

Rum banana sauce is a delicious and versatile sauce that can be used in a variety of desserts. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Whether you like it sweet, spicy, or boozy, there is a rum banana sauce recipe out there for you. So next time you are looking for a special dessert sauce, give rum banana sauce a try.
