Kid Tested and Husband Approved! I think most folks grew up on a tight budget. As a result, our family was big on "extender meals". However, this was one of our family's favorites. It was one of my kid's favorites as well (w/2 cans of corn). Now they are grown it's a going on the 3rd generation. What makes it even better; it taste...

Time 1h15m

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 pkg noodles, medium sized cooked
1 lb ground beef, chicken or turkey
1 can(s) whole kernel sweet corn (drained)
1 can(s) cream of mushroom soup
1 can(s) cream of celery soup
1 c sour cream
1/4 c onion chopped
1 Tbsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder

Steps:

  • 1. In a large casserole dish mix both soups, corn, sour cream and spices.
  • 2. Cook noodles as directed on package. Definately do not over cook. I actually slightly under cook them so they do not get too mushy when you bake them in the mixture above.
  • 3. In a skillet brown your onions and ground meat with a dash of salt and pepper. Drain fat as needed.
  • 4. Add noodles and meat mixture to the casserole dish in step one. Mix well.
  • 5. Cover with a lid or foil. Bake @ 350 for 30-45 min. depending on how deep or shallow your dish is . Remove cover for the last 10 min. to brown the top slightly.

This casserole is a great make-ahead meal. I often make it on the weekend and then reheat it during the week for lunch or dinner.

This casserole was a bit too dry for my taste. I think I would add some more milk or cream next time.

I found this recipe to be a bit too time-consuming. It took me over an hour to make.

This casserole was a bit too bland for my taste. I added some extra spices and it was much better.
